Therapeutic Optometrist, Glaucoma Specialist
Upon graduation from optometry school, Dr. Frazier returned to her hometown of La Porte to practice. Dr. Frazier holds undergraduate degrees from Baylor University and the University of Houston. She graduated from University of Houston college of Optometry. Dr. Frazier has expanded her licensing to include diagnostic and therapeutic certification, and later to include glaucoma specialist certification. In June, 2011, Dr. Frazier was among the first to obtain Diplomate status with the American Board of Optometry. Achieving Diplomate status was a defining moment of her career, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to learning. Our office commits to continually improving patient care.
We built our free standing building in 1995, allowing room for more diagnostic equipment, a larger dispensary, on-site finishing lab, and four examination rooms to provide better service for our patients.
Many things about the way Dr. Frazier practices have changed. The eye care office in La Porte now uses computer assisted examination lanes with electronic records and prescribe digitally generated lenses. Our office employs the latest technology in the care of our patients. Despite all of the changes, the commitment to providing caring and personalized eye care that exceeds expectations has remained constant.
Therapeutic Optometrist, Glaucoma Specialist
Dr. Sarah Hunter grew up locally in Pasadena, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas A&M University, and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. She graduated Cum Laude from both institutions and was inducted in the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. During her time at UHCO, Dr. Hunter was awarded three clinical letters of excellence for outstanding performance in all areas of clinical care. She was given the Award of Excellence in the study of ocular disease in 2012, and was recognized as the overall outstanding student in the Medical Eye Service during her 4th year of training.
Dr. Hunter has extensive experience in ocular disease as well as a strong background in primary care optometry and specialty contact lens fits. She is a certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma Specialist. Dr. Hunter enjoys seeing patients for eye exams, the treatment and management of glaucoma, retinopathy associated with systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, and anterior segment diseases. She also participates in the co-management of cataract surgery, and LASIK. She treats patients in all of her specialties at our eye care office in La Porte. She is currently working towards becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Hunter and her husband Wesley are big fans of Fighting Texas Aggie Football. They are very proud parents and welcomed their first child in February, 2015. Dr. Hunter is excited to be giving back to the community in which she was raised.
Our office manager and licensed optician, Jessica Layton, shares Dr. Frazier’s commitment to quality care. She has just celebrated her 27th year with our office. Jessica leads our entire staff in attending regional and national meetings to make sure we offer our patients the latest and most up to date products and services.
Barbara is a certified optician, with more than 20 years experience in the optical industry. Her warm personality makes you feel at ease. She has a vast wealth of knowledge of frame and lenses, and will work with you to enhance your experience.
Dena will greet you with a smile, and her positive energy will get your visit off to a great start. Her several years of experience allow her to efficiently get your appointment scheduled and check your insurance, making your visit go smoothly.
Cesilia’s primary responsibility is prescreening and preparing patients for Dr. Frazier. She is fluent in Spanish and her friendly outgoing manner will make you feel comfortable on your visit to our office.
Brenda’s responsibility is to pre-screen and prepare patients for Dr. Hunter. She also works on the administrative side of the office. She is fluent in Spanish and will make sure your visit to our office is a positive experience.
